Beyond The Grief Mission

     

 

      Beyond The Grief Mission’s purpose is to raise funds and awareness for Wings for Widows, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides pro-bono financial planning for newly widowed families. What began as a personal reality for Lexi Schnur and her family in 2021 when her father passed away after a hard-fought battle with cancer, became a gratitude-driven life goal to give other teenagers a way to support their parents during an emotionally difficult time. Through fundraising, our mission is to provide the funds needed so that Wings For Widows can help take the financial stress away from losing a loved one. 

     Led by an army of teenage advocates, Beyond The Grief Mission strives to create a space where widows do not have to be afraid to ask for help and where grief should come first, not financial worries. By immersing themselves in fundraising initiatives, Beyond The Grief Mission gives teenagers a way to support important adult figures during an extremely vulnerable, emotional, and painful time. Our dual-impact approach, serving both widowed families and developing young leaders, creates a strong cycle of community support that will ensure easy access to financial education services for widows and widowers, enabling them to maintain stability and focus on emotional healing. Through teen advocacy and fundraising, Beyond The Grief Mission aims to create a nationwide support network that transforms how widowed families navigate financial challenges. We are a band of teenage ambassadors that plan, and execute fundraisers all over the country to bring awareness to the importance of family financial planning and support Wings for Widows in any way we can.  

       While many organizations provide direct financial aid to widowed families, we raise awareness for the lack of long-term financial literacy and planning through our partnership with Wings For Widows. Beyond The Grief Mission stands out among other projects as it is entirely run by empowered teens who are advocating for a cause that does not directly affect them. Beyond The Grief Mission encourages teens to support the adults who have shaped their lives, creating a powerful relationship between youth advocates and bereaved community members. Through structured fundraising and awareness campaigns, teen ambassadors develop real-world marketing, communication, and leadership skills while directly impacting widowed families' financial stability. By focusing on financial education and planning rather than temporary aid, we help ensure long-term stability for families navigating the difficult transition to single-income households after the loss of a loved one.
